Local cyclist Sophia Fuller has big day on the bike

Accomplishment: Lodi cyclist Sophia Fuller, a sixth-grader at Vinewood Elementary School, took first place in the girls 10-12 division and captured the yellow jersey at the Davis Junior Criterium on Sunday.

The race was held on the same track that professional riders, including Lance Armstrong, competed on earlier Sunday in Stage 1 of the Tour of California. Fuller, 12, races for Rocket Sports-Trek.
Family: Robert and Carolyn Fuller, parents; two brothers.
Favorite sport: Triathlons. "I really enjoy swimming, I'm good at bike riding and I'm a pretty good runner," said Fuller, who added that she started swimming when she was 2 years old and was riding a bike without training wheels when she was 3.
Favorite athlete: Professional cyclist Chris Horner. Fuller said she met Horner during last year's Tour of California and he provided her with riding tips."He's also a very good racer," Fuller said.
Favorite hobbies: When she's not biking, swimming or running, Fuller said she enjoys reading. She's recently been into fantasy stories, especially the "Artemis Fowl" series by author Eoin Colfer.
Favorite subject: History. "I like learning about wars and how things came to be," Fuller said.
Would like to meet: Lance Armstrong. Fuller said she would like to get some training tips from Armstrong and take a ride with him.
Crowning achievement: Winning last Sunday's race.
Favorite food: Hamburgers. Fuller said her mom's hamburgers are good and she also likes to eat at In-N-Out Burger.
Plans: To do well in middle school and win a few more races.
